From my child hood...when i go to temple or just see an elephant in tv i just laugh and admire their structure.. but when i see an elephant face to face i get scared. i fear to go near them jus even to give them a banana..:P..i have admired them as a funny creature. But later when i started growing up i developed a unique respect for them. started to look at them as lord ganesha.. heard a lot of elephant stories from my mother and grand father. i have also seen elephants in films.. MGR,rajni...etc... But now this film KUMKI with elephant has made a foot print in my heart. Kumki is very ardently picturised.. the cinematography plays a very key role.. and of course the back ground music...nowadays the people make lot of money using elephants by just seeing them as a creature. But in this film the hero's affection and love for "Manikkam" the elephant carried me away.the way he pampers the elephant and kissing it gently in the thumbikai is really a wonderful scene to watch. But a very good lesson taught in this film is... "How a blind love or infactuation or a craze for a gal makes a man to do anything?? I never expected the film to end in a very pathetic way.But its the reality.. Yes!! I really appreciate the hero's confidence in training the ordinary elephant to a kumki elephant. But ofcourse its not just confidence alone but a bit of over confidence which paved the way for a tragic end.. And yeah.. Even though manikkam was n't a trained elephant . he was able to kill the komban..haha.. Yes this is our usual tinge of tamil cinema where impossibles are made as possibles.. and Yes.. only bcos of tht he film was success :P. Even audience don expect a completely logical movie. That is our tamil cinema :P :D. But this flm is definitely a "think out of box" than the usual villain, kuthu songs, glammer songs... A very decently picturised film..really liked the way the heroine looked.. beautiful queen amidst the athi kaadu.. :)No wonder why the hero fell in love right from the first sight.. :Pneed to mention the comedy track done by the hero's uncle which made us laugh till the climax.. But made us cry at the end alone..Finally ..not all love end up in success.. But Kumki's success is the failure in the love which made a point to ponder in each one's mind on seeing the movie..
Point which made me think... All lovers are selfish... and hence the prey here is Manikkam.. Sad but true :-(
